Shaping the future of journalism
In 2024, Mediahuis reinforced its role as a powerhouse of independent journalism, reaching over 10 million people daily across six countries. With more than 30 news brands, 9 radio stations, and an expanding digital footprint, the group reported a €1.2 billion turnover. Despite economic challenges and rising operational costs, Mediahuis maintained strong financial performance and editorial integrity.
The report highlights the company’s strategic investments in:
Signature journalism and investigative reporting;
Audience engagement, particularly with younger generations via platforms like SPIL and TikTok;
AI and technology, including the development of internal tools like NewsSearch and personalisation features;
Sustainability, with clear green goals and a transition plan;
Media pluralism, supported through the Pluralis fund in regions where press freedom is under threat.
Mediahuis also introduced new subscription models that blend news, service journalism, and lifestyle content, focusing on personalisation and “time well spent.” Their journalism earned numerous national and international awards, and the group remains committed to editorial independence, transparency, and long-term resilience.
